Wood Covered Balcony Inspection and Repair

Location: Palm Beach, Florida

Client: Close Permits

DOP recently carried out an inspection on a balcony that was full of termites. The inspection revealed that the damage caused by termites was extensive, and the balcony was badly compromised.

The company then proceeded with a new balcony design, which was made entirely of wood. The new balcony design was carefully measured and constructed to ensure maximum stability and strength. The before and after pictures show the vast improvements that were made to the balcony. The new balcony design looks stunning, and it is clear that DOP did an excellent job in restoring the balcony to its former glory. The new balcony not only looks amazing, but it is also now free of any termites, ensuring that it will last for many years to come.

Wilton Manors Residential Project

Location: Wilton Manors, Florida

Client: Field Agency Architecture

DOP Engineering is thrilled to share details about our recent residential project development in Wilton Manors, Florida. Moreover, this custom-designed home, spanning 2,675 square feet, underscores our dedication to modern architectural aesthetics and robust structural engineering.

Structural Design and Foundation

First, the foundation was planned as a slab-on-grade with thickened edges, providing a stable base for the structure. Similarly, we incorporated metallic columns with isolated foundations to enhance support and load distribution, thereby strengthening the foundation and boosting the house’s overall durability.

Additionally, for the walls, we opted for Concrete Masonry Units (CMU) due to their strength and resilience. These CMU walls complement concrete tie-beams, which provide additional structural support and help in evenly distributing the loads across the foundation. As a result, this combination ensures the house stands firm against various environmental stresses.

Hambro system

In the same way, for the second floor and roof, we chose the Hambro system, which combines steel joists with a concrete slab. This system offers numerous advantages. Notably, it provides superior fire resistance, sound insulation, and long-term structural integrity. Consequently, it also allows for greater flexibility in architectural design, ensuring a seamless blend of functionality and aesthetics.

Furthermore, we worked closely with Field Agency Architecture to ensure our structural designs aligned perfectly with their architectural vision for the home. As a result of this collaborative approach, we achieved guaranteed and seamless integration of form and function, ensuring a residence that would be both visually stunning and structurally sound. Additionally, our meticulous attention to detail in both design and construction ensures that every aspect of the project meets the highest standards of quality and innovation.
