Farmhouse Addition in Hobe Sound, Florida

Project Type: Residential Structural Addition.

Location: Hobe Sound, Florida.

Client: Marjorie Carrillo Architect, PLLC

DOP Engineering is providing structural engineering services for a residential addition in Hobe Sound, Florida. The project expands a 1990s wood-frame farmhouse with a new attached garage and a second-floor guest apartment.

To make space for the new structure, the team removed parts of existing walls, doors, columns, and sections of the existing roof. At the same time, important elements such as exterior wall sections, plywood and trusses were ketp to support the transition.

The addition features CMU block walls, a concrete floor slab, and a wood floor and roof system. These upgrades bring durability while staying compatible with the original house. In addition, an enclosed hall now connects the farmhouse to the two-story garage/apartment. This design allows the garage to detach in the future if the family rebuilds the main house.

This project shows DOP Engineering’s focus on strong, adaptable solutions. This Farmhouse Addition in Hobe Sound is ready to grow along with the needs of the family.
